To begin, it’s a bit presumptuous for Iran to ask the US to require Israel to abide by an agreement that she was not a signatory to, nor was she involved in negotiations. Iran can dictate to Hezbullah (and does!) but Trump doesn’t speak for Israel in International discourse. Iran has told Hezbullah to offer (via Lebanese parliament member Nabil Beri) to agree to a cease-fire, but no terms were mentioned. Previous binding agreements required Hezbullah to withdraw military forces to north of the Litani (at the time, the theoretical maximum range of missiles used by Hezbullah). It was not done. UN “peace-keeping” observers are NOT empowered to disarm Hezbullah, and Hezbullah is numerically stronger and better equipped than the Lebanese National Army. De facto – nobody is going to force Hezbullah to disarm, just as no one has forced Hamas in Gaza to do so, despite Hamas having signed binding agreements to do so. Various Western Countries and organizations always opt to demand things from Israel because they have no way to influence anyone on the other side getting directly involved). (and aren’t willing to get their hands dirty by becoming more directly involved). Even Trump is unwilling to commit US forces on the ground because of the risk of casualties.
