Talking Again – supplement 21 Jun

I should also add that even though the US claims Hormuz is open, Iran says it is not, and the signed version of the MoU currently being worked on does NOT include it. The original armistice agreements that ended the 1948-49 war ALL included requirements for further talks to determine final borders and arrangements. Ultimately, Egypt and Jordan did sign peace treaties in which they renounce national territorial claims within what had been the British Mandate. Lebanon and Syria did not do so, and Iraq never even signed an armistice, they just pulled out their army. The Palestinians continue to condition their participation in direct negotiations with Israel on Israel accepting their demands for full control of Jerusalem, return of any refugees claiming to be Palestinians, and recognition of the 1949 (1967?) armistice lines as final borders.
