I inherited a bias for the Democratic Party from my parents. But I would not want to be in the same room, no, make that the same country, with the people who represent that political position today. I served in the US Navy for 8 years. I did 3 tours of duty with the amphibious forces in Vietnam (which was then an unpopular war at home). I do NOT understand how Democrat members of Congress can maintain the position that having illegal immigrants in the US is even remotely acceptable. I am amazed that those politicians think that urging soldiers to refuse orders has anything at all to do with Free Speech. The officers are required to think about illegal orders. The oath of service for the troops under them actually does not have that provision. Does the oath of office for Senators and Representatives empower them to incite rebellion?
Yes! I’m angry. Support for turning a blind eye toward illegal immigrants is a minor offense compared to inciting violent rebellion. That is what I believe the US Democrats are doing. It is possible to support ideals like equality without having that support become excessive or exclusive. The current direction of much of the US political opposition threatens to destroy the very fabric of the democratic society upon which it is built. I live in Israel. The current political leaders here are probably corrupt. But they aren’t trying to destroy the country. The current American opposition leaders like Schumer and Jeffries need to be opposing their more radical party members like AOC, Omar, and Mamdani.
I pray for the recovery of those poor West Virginian National Guard soldiers, and for America to come to her senses.
