Yesterday Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah gave a speech in which he noted that Israelis are shaking in their boots in panic over the forthcoming Islamic attack. That attack is delayed as part of his battle plan. What he did not mention is that Lebanese are fleeing via Beirut airport in panic over an expected Israeli counter strike.
The US is doing the best it can to see that neither of those events actually occurs. President Biden promised American aid in defending Israel (to soften or avoid the blow from Iran and proxies) but any IDF response would be “on your own” (to keep an Israeli reply from causing escalation).
But, meanwhile, Yihyah Sinwar has managed to get “elected” as the replacement for Ismail Haniya. The feeling in my area is that this means there will be no hostage release deal (not right away, and maybe not ever).
Kamala Harris chose an extreme “progressive” as her running mate. Despite the failure of at least two pro-terrorist Democrat candidates in the primaries, the party is still, overall, in the anti-Israel (and probably anti-Semitic) camp.
For now, the Paris Olympics and the American elections might keep everything quiet by monopolizing the headlines. Sinwar is a master of manipulating headlines, and has a preference for showing blood and destruction. If he continues to elude IDF forces searching for him, he might decide to try a return to the terror that he knows best.
