Gaza War 23 Jul

Israeli PM Netanyahu is en route to the US where he will address congress. He took along a large number of members of families of kidnap victims still held by Hamas. The obvious reason is to provide a counter to the constant flow of Hamas propaganda featuring dead and injured Palestinians in the media (especially on CNN). Look, World! They aren’t the only ones suffering (and they started it).

Hamas tried to fire a couple of rockets into Israel. It’s an exercise they repeat periodically to try to show they are still fighting. This time, one of the rockets went astray an struck a Gazan school in Nuseirat. Hamas rockets have a high failure rate. About 20% of them actually land inside the Gaza strip and never reach Israel.

IDF forces are engaged in combat in Tulkarm on the West Bank, Hamas has tried to foment a large scale rebellion inside that area and has been mostly unsuccessful, One of the reasons has been that the Palestinian Authority Police don’t cooperate. There have been cases where the PA Police actually engaged Hamas supporters and killed them. Others were arrested. It isn’t because the PA likes Israel. They just dislike Hamas more.

The hostage release talks are still going on. I hope they reach an agreement before Netanyahu returns to Israel.
