Gaza War 4 Apr

The big Media names that I see (CNN, Sky, BBC, France 24, Al-Jazeera) are all busy interviewing people from various governments and agencies about the WCK attack. There is a lot of irresponsible comment and suggestions about sanctions to be leveled against Israel. I don’t recall anyone making comments like that about Hamas regarding the October 7th massacre (or at any time since). It seems the height of absurdity to talk about punishing Israel (the victim of the massacre that started all this) while ignoring the terrorists who are truly responsible. Did anyone call for Hamas to investigate and provide details about who did what on October 7th? Why not? Hamas is known as a terrorist regime in many countries. Israel is the only one to oppose them openly (even the Palestinian Authority, who once plotted a coup against Hamas, is either silent or supports them).

When I mentioned this to one person I was told that western countries do not have any leverage against Hamas. That is simply not true. Even if they were not willing to engage in active warfare (as opposed to simple police protective measures) they could use financial sanctions.  At one time such measures were employed against Iran (before Biden decided to bribe them to stop proxy attacks against American bases).

I’ve heard that a new blockade breaking flotilla is being prepared in Turkey. This is the time to remind you that any such ship or ships that sails with the intent of reaching a legally blockaded port is subject to being intercepted, boarded, and detained from the instant it leaves the territorial waters of the country from which it sails. If the ship resists, it can even be legally destroyed without compensation. The previous blockade running attempt by the Turkish Mavi Maramara is NOT a legal precedent.
