It’s certainly right for the world to be upset when people are killed when trying to provide aid for refugees from war. But there is an aspect of this latest case that bothers me. Why is this tragic event getting so much attention? Why do the media interview people who stress the need for a cease-fire? After all, a complete cease-fire is the first thing that Hamas wants. They won’t even discuss hostage releases until they get a cease-fire, IDF withdrawal, a lifting of the “blockade” and reconstruction (The demands they have made to the third parties trying to get a hostage deal).
There is still infiltration of Hamas terrorists into the areas controlled by Israel. Part of the proof is in what the IDF found in the hospitals in Gaza city last week. There were more terrorists in Shifa hospital than medical staff and patients combined. Similar conditions exist in nearby Al-Aqsa and Nasr hospitals. Pre-attack photos of the World Central Kitchen vehicles show armed masked men standing next to them, (that doesn’t excuse the attack).
World media has only the Hamas Gaza Health Ministry as a source for casualty figures. That source does not provide separate numbers for civilian and terrorist dead. The IDF says they have killed about 13000 Hamas terrorists. Even if that figure were ‘only’ 10,000 it would still be closer to the actual ratio of civilians to terrorists. Has any media pointed this out? None that I am aware of.
The media fascination with humanitarian aid puts them solidly in support of Hamas. Another big hole in most major media reports is that they ignore the hundreds of rockets constantly fired into Israel (and the fact that many of the earlier launches from Gaza never got across the fence into Israeli territory). These rockets have resulted in very few casualties. Does the media want to penalize the IDF for being good at defending Israeli citizens?
