It seems the US ‘partner’ that will operate the floating pier port for aid to Gaza id the United Arab Emirates. The individual in charge will be Mohammed Dahlan. Dahlan was a well known and important figure in Fatah politics for a long time. He built up the Palestinian Authority Police after the Oslo Accords. After the death of Yasser Arafat, Dahlan tried to become a contender for leadership, and failed. He ended up in exile. This may be his chance to return to the Palestinian political arena (Dahlan was imprisoned in Israel several times, and speaks fluent Hebrew).
A few notes about the air drops of aid in Gaza. Some parachuted aid parcels landed in the Mediterranean. Refugees swam out to retrieve them. A later drop had the parachutes on one packet fail to open. It hit a number of people on the beach, killing some and injuring others (seems the USAF and Jordanians aren’t paying close attention to President Biden’s warnings that Gazan civilian deaths are ‘unacceptable’). The content of the aid packets came from American military reserves. The content include US Army MRE Rations and even packages of candy (not exactly the sort of food that Palestinians are used to eating). This prompted at least one refugee to complain and request that the paradrops include flour so the people could bake their own pita bread.
