There are some other items that I want to mention. Israel’s international credit rating at Moody’s (one of 3 companies that publish them) dropped from A1 to A2. That would usually reflect a weaker economy. But immediately after that there was a new issue of Israel Bonds to raise money. It was oversubscribed before the end of the trading day. That indicates trust in a strong economy.
Yesterday a local Palestinian Authority resident tried to run over some Israelis on the road from Elazar to the south. He failed to cause any harm. Security forces quickly gave chase. He was halted about a kilometer south of our entry gate. The perpetrator was wounded, and taken to an Israeli hospital.
Hezbollah rocket fire yesterday resulted in 1 dead and 8 injured Israeli citizens. Nasrallah still says he’ll stop when the shooting in Gaza stops. Inside Khan Yunis and Rafah (in the Gaza strip) IDF troops located a tunnel sanctuary for Hamas leaders. There were at least 2 safes inside, each containing millions of dollars in banknotes from several countries. Also a video recording that looks like it shows Yihyah Sinwar leaving this same tunnel sanctuary. I don’t know where he is hiding now, but the range of available places of concealment is shrinking.
