The American Presidential campaign is off and running. Trump would have the /republican nomination all to himself except for what looks like a politically motivated movement to have him disqualified. The US Supreme Court will rule on that soon. Biden has the Democratic nomination except for his own ability to shoot himself in the foot with his mouth. His age and memory are problematic for him. There are many democrats that would like to have a different candidate. But the first one that comes to mind is Kamela Harris. She’s almost as bad a choice.
President Biden has a vision (mirage?) for a comprehensive solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict. He has less than year to go in office on this term and seems to want to complete his ideas while he’s still president. That means he’s going to be meddling in the internal affairs of more than one other country. His latest position is to oppose any IDF operation in Rafah. He may not be aware that not operating in Rafah means that Hamas will have a safe haven from the IDF, Hamas (designated as a terrorist group by the US) will probably be able to remain in power, there will be no release of hostages (no IDF pressure means no incentive for Hamas to let them go), and a de facto serious defeat for Israel (whom he thinks he is supporting).
I wonder how many of his advisors really think that this is a good policy for the USA? It certainly isn’t good for Israel.
Aside: Trucks carrying aid via Rafah gate from Egypt are returning without being inspected. Hamas used ambulances to move terrorists around inside Gaza. Are those trucks carrying Hamas leaders away from the threat of Israeli attack?
