More countries are suspending funding for UNRWA. Estonia, France, and Japan joined the party. Meanwhile, the UN (and UNRWA in particular) went into damage control mode. They claim to be shocked by the revelations and claim that a dozen individuals shouldn’t be enough to blacken the reputation of the thousands working for UNRWA. Well, that dozen is just the list of known names that were involved. There are lots more. Other UNRWA employees (including the director) are probably involved and need to be investigated (and not by an internal UNRWA team). In my opinion, the entire organization should be dropped. Some functions could be transferred to UNHCR, others to WFP. Maybe the Gazan Palestinians should be asked to pay their own way. I suspect a check of UN statistics would show that the average income in Gaza was higher than that in Egypt.
Three American soldiers were killed by an Iranian sponsored drone attack. Tehran was extremely quick to deny being involved. I don’t believe them. Neither should you.
Egypt responded to a hint from Syria that the Syrians would help defend Lebanon if Israel attacked Hezbollah. The Egyptians told the Syrians it was better not to get involved. The Syrian statement was probably just a ploy to try to pressure the USA. America really doesn’t want the war to spread. But it already has. The Houthi regime in Yemen is already involved in open fighting against America. They haven’t just rattled sabers. They have actually fired missiles at American ships. The relatively weak US response may have been what prompted the fatal drone attack. I apologize for slipping into conspiracy theory mode, but some conspiracy theories have occasionally actually been proven true.
