Today I’m just going to point out a couple of major media omissions. Next week I plan to address some concrete recommendations for moving toward a peaceful? resolution of the local conflict.
Israel has long pointed out that masses of humanitarian aid were accumulating after crossing the northern Gaza checkpoint. UN agencies kept complaining (falsely) that Israel was preventing them from delivering the aid. Israeli documented the situation, and UN agencies came to pick up the material. But the media somehow managed to avoid reporting this. One of my sources noted that the World Food Organization collected over 1000 truckloads in July, but only 10 of them actually reached their destinations. I didn’t see any of that reported in the major media.
Another more recent item was that the UN decided (at last!) to call Hamas a terrorist entity. But that, too, went unreported in the media.
What I did see was a lot of replays of faked Hamas “starvation” clips that have been documented as being either staged or coming from places other than Gaza. Even the New York Times had to make a correction on one of them. But the original got millions of views and the retraction only a few thousand.
