The truce has officially ended but Egypt is still trying to get an agreement for an extension that will include releasing more hostages. Hamas does not seem ready to accept this. An American proposal for releasing all hostages and continuing negotiations was accepted by Israel, but rejected by Hamas. Both sides seem headed toward resuming the fighting. The IDF has fired on some groups of terrorists who were placing explosives. Gaza sources said at least 5 were killed and another 5 injured.
Israel has AUTHORIZED calling up reservists for another round of campaigning, but NO ONE has yet received a call up order. This looks like more propaganda and posturing while neither side has taken real steps toward ending the truce. The Israeli attacks have, so far, all been in response to Hamas activities that were in violation of the truce.
Israel has also halted all movement of aid into Gaza from Israel. Water and electricity are still being supplied. Hamas, as you might expect, is complaining. But the amount of food and other items that they have stocked up is probably enough to care for everyone or about 6 months. Of course, the Hamas propaganda films won’t mention that. Last week Israeli soldiers confiscated a truckload of new cell phones that was masquerading as essential aid. The driver was taken in for questioning.
