The Democratic Convention surprised me. Instead of a platform for the “Free Palestine” groups they featured the parents of a Hamas kidnap victim. The response was loud and effective (but only for the crowd in the hall, Hamas remained unmoved and has not made serious progress towards a deal). The important message was that the DNC would not have a speaker from the pro-Palestinian wing (although they seem unable to mention hostages without adding in a mention of the suffering of the Palestinians in Gaza). The apparent thinking is that those voters aren’t going to vote against Harris (but they might stay home, and not vote)
Israeli forensic teams examined all six of the bodies recently recovered from Gaza. All were known from video footage to have been taken alive. All of them had bullets in their bodies. The team could not determine whether the bullets were the actual cause of death.one But commentator came up with a reasonable hypothetical scenario, IDF forces were closing in on the location where the men were being held. Their guards, rather than allow them to be freed, decided to execute them.
Israelis were shocked to discover that an Arab doctor at an Israeli medical center had joined the Islamic fundamentalist ISIS organization. Security forces arrested him, and he admitted what he had done. The whole incident left a number of his co-workers in shock.
IDF troops continue to uncover caches of weapons and equipment in private homes and apartments. There are large parts of Gaza that are almost untouched by the war. The images the media shows you of destruction and interviews of Gaza residents are still the ones that Hamas wants the world to see (and the media helps them).
