Gaza War 4 Aug

Seeing some of the media coverage one could easily get the impression that Israel is on the verge of panic over the probable Iranian attack that is expected “soon”. Some of us are not too worried. The previous direct attack from Iran was a fairly miserable failure. There isn’t much direst evidence that they learned anything from it, but it would be a serious mistake to underestimate their capabilities.

For most Israelis little has changed. We still haven’t got a hostage deal (and more and more Israelis believe that Netanyahu is at least partly responsible). Hezbollah continues to shoot rockets into Israel, and the IDF is still waiting for government approval to do more about it. There is a question about whose government needs to approve the action; Israel or America? There are more and more munitions (and spare parts) that have already passed congressional funding but are being delayed by the current administration. For some items, the delay may be because US military needs will be on a higher priority.

Modern warfare can be quite complex and Hezbollah is not Hamas. The Lebanese terrorists have a better organized force, and a lot more modern weaponry (Thanks to Iran). One of the major reasons this is true is because the US has freed Iranian accounts and actually gives aid to Hezbollah. There was a time when the United States imposed sanctions and economic limitations on terrorist organizations. The current administration seems to think it can buy peace, either directly or indirectly. Funding groups that go to public demonstrations where they burn BOTH American and Israeli flags (and deface American monuments) not resulting in arrests and convictions. Why does a public trial of a presidential candidate rate more condemnation than the mass demonstrations (organized in support of groups the US government designates as terrorists)?
