The media is full of speculation regarding when and where the Iranian reaction to the assassination of Ismail Haniya will be. What is not being asked (and it should be) is why? Haniya was a top official in an Iranian proxy terror organization. He was on a lot of Most Wanted lists. But the clerics in Tehran see the death as an affront to their “honor”. Honor killings are deeply inbred in Arab Islamic culture. But they don’t have to continue forever.
The same thing can be said of the Palestinian claims against Israel. In that situation a lot of the stories on which the claims are based are demonstrably false. That does not keep various organizations from repeating them over and over (and louder). For many western liberal thinkers another similar question is not being asked. Why isn’t there a Palestinian political movement supporting a peaceful settlement of the conflict? Egypt and Jordan signed peace agreements with Israel. Why not Palestine? And why do they need Iran (no common border with Israel) to call for “Death to Israel?
Displaced “Palestinians”, most of whose ancestors never had any real connection to the land they claim to have been evicted from, are regularly exploited and discriminated against by their brother Arabs. During the Syrian civil war Palestinians fleeing the combat zones claimed to be Syrians, not Palestinians, in order to escape from the permanent residence status of living in UNRWA camps. The world does not owe them anything (and neither do Californians owe anything to their homeless addicts beyond giving them an opportunity to opt for a different life style).
It probably won’t happen, but I‘d like to see Palestinians demonstrating against Hamas like Venezuelans have done against Madjuro.
