I had a wonderful time with my grandson at the opera in Tel Aviv. We were already in Jerusalem when the Houthi drone hit Tel Aviv. The location was nowhere near where we had been. The explosion killed one person, a 50 plus year old man. Israel seems to have had plans for retaliation already prepared. The Israeli air force struck the Yemeni port of Hodeida the next day. The target was the oil refinery located there. Photos shop it engulfed in flames. So far, there are no reliable casualty numbers.
What is important to note is that the Israeli response was rapid, and caused a lot of real damage. The American led efforts to put an end to Houthi interruption of merchant shipping in that region took a long time to reach the point of making an actual military attack, and then it only hit a few rocket launchers, nothing of much substance. They have not done much since, either. A Maersk line container ship was reported to be on fire off the Yemen coast this morning. No details came with the report, so it might not be due to a Houthi attack. The American led forces have shot down or destroyed many missiles, aerial drones, and drone boats, but it did not bring about a halt to the illegal “blockade”.
