The world has had 9 months to convince Hamas to obey international law and release all the hostages they are holding captive. So far, it appears they have done nothing. They are willing to give free advice to Israel about what to do to appease Hamas. This advice, like most free advice, is worth what it costs; also nothing. The world also knows that Hamas doesn’t care about Palestinian civilians, To quote a Hamas official “We aren’t responsible for protecting civilians. That’s the job of the UN.” And the UN is doing a great job while permitting (inviting?) Hamas armed terrorists to use UN structures (schools, hospitals) as both shelters and firing bases.
This would not seem as terrible as it does if it weren’t for the additional issues that keep cropping up alongside. The media, and UN agencies. Ignore the activities of Hezbollah in Lebanon. Dozens of rockets, drones, and anti-tank missiles are fired b Hezbollah into Israel every day. The US tells Israel mot to move in to Lebanon on the ground in order to avoid a larger war. But the war is already larger. The difference between Gaza and Northern Israel is that the Israeli government tries to protect Israeli citizens. Many have been evacuated from their homes. Pictures of Israeli homes reduced to rubble are not unlike similar picture from Gaza. The Hamas health ministry publishes casualty figures in order to be in the headlines. The media totally ignores the Israeli damaged homes. And at the same time, the US and other countries are threatening sanctions ONLY against Israel, and don’t even mention Hezbollah attacks. One Israeli put it this way, “When your homes are being blasted by rockets and your citizens are kidnapped and murdered you can venture an opinion. Until then, shut up and stop telling us how to rescue our hostages and protect our homes”.
