Our war is being fought under a microscope. Every operation conducted by the IDF is critiqued by the US government (and American news media). They don’t apply the same standards to anyone else. In fact, a lot of activities by our opponents don’t get any coverage at all. Hezbollah was shooting about 10 rockets a day into Israel in March- April. That number has about tripled in June. The only reason we don’t have large numbers of casualties is because our defenses are better, and we evacuated civilians from their near border homes. Have you seen photos of Israeli homes destroyed by Hezbollah rockets? But you undoubtedly see photos of destroyed buildings in Gaza on a regular basis. Have you seen pictures of Gazan neighborhoods without damage? It may surprise you to know that about a third of the structures in Gaza strip cities are completely unharmed. So much for fair and Even-handed journalism in America!
The US now wants the IDF to identify all 30 terrorists in the UNRWA building we blasted yesterday. Hamas is saying there were 45 victims and most were children. Well, the IDF already published 9 names, accompanied by photos! Nobody asked Hamas to take similar action. But it makes little difference. Hamas can make up names just as easily as numbers.
In southern Lebanon, where a lot of Shiite Muslims live, many families have already fled. The non-Shiite population is reported to be very frightened. They’ve seen the destruction that comes with a full scale war in the past. No one wants it to happen again; except, perhaps, Nasrallah. All he has to do is tell Iran he won’t keep on firing rockets into Israel. If he does stop shooting he might even be able to continue to defy the UN resolution that ordered him to move his fighters north of the Litani. If he doesn’t, I think it’s a question of when, not if, the IDF will move to cripple his private militia just as they did to Sinwar’s.
