There are over 50 warships in the Red Sea – Persian Gulf – Indian Ocean area. The US and UK have attacked Yemeni/Houthi installations involved in interfering with merchant shipping in the area. The response, so far, has been for the Houthis to threaten the Americans, Iran even got into the picture by seizing a tanker. Of course, the ship they took was one the US had intercepted a year or so ago and removed its Iranian owned cargo. Iran now claims this is just a tit for tat reaction. One American ship recently launched land attack missiles at Houthi shore installations. It looks like most of the warships action, however, has been just to shoot down Houthi missiles and drones or chase away Yemeni small craft that were preparing for another piratical attack on a civilian ship. Any way you slice it, it looks more and more like an escalating military confrontation. Who will blink first?
A similar situation exists on the Israel Lebanon border. Since Hezbollah does not appear to be withdrawing, the Israeli Air Force has been making bigger, and deeper, strikes at Hezbollah installations. There are a lot of Lebanese who think that their country has enough problems without adding a Hezbollah initiated war to them. Here, too, the question is who will back down (or will the war expand?).
In Gaza, the IDF is now employing a new unit of integrated forces designed especially to deal with Hamas urban guerrillas So far, the results have been very good. Hamas rocket launchers were destroyed with the rockets still in them before they could be fired. Numerous terrorists have been killed, and lots of Hamas munitions and other equipment has been captured.
Hamas has not been very successful in exporting their war, either. A squad of terrorists was arrested in Sweden before they could attack the Israeli embassy. Only a few terrorists have attempted making attacks inside Israel or on the West Bank. One drive by shooting on the highway did manage to kill an Israeli Arab citizen and severely injured another. A separate attack on a small village got inside the protective fence. One resident was hurt. The three terrorists were killed.
