When the COVID19 crisis started Israel appeared to be one of the countries that was handling it effectively. No More! The latest figures show that our infection rate per 1000 population is right up there with the leaders, Brazil and America. Yesterday we had over 6700 new cases. In my little village (estimated population about 2500-3000) we had 7 new cases reported yesterday. One of them was a doctor. Another one lives about 5 houses away from us, at the end of our street.

The local clinic where we are registered is in a nearby village. The nurse there asked me to drop in for a routine follow-up on my potential borderline diabetes. We went (silly us) and I got a clean bill of health. The condition is under control by diet. No medications. My weight is the same as a year ago. And my blood pressure is 130 over 73. That’s really good for someone over 80 years old.

As for the pandemic, we’re keeping it at bay by self isolation. We rarely go out, except when it seems necessary. We get our exercise by walking the dogs around our yard. and we miss seeing our children and grandchildren very much. Ah, the times we live in!
