Russian Ship Camouflage in WW II

Many people know that the major naval powers camouflaged their warships in the Second World War. The Russian fleet, however, has received little attention. Possibly because of the nature of the then Communist regime. In any case, here are some examples of camouflage on Soviet ships of that era.

ww ii BB Marat 16-4164797-marat-22
The Russian battleship MARAT spent most of her time as a floating anti-aircraft battery. She was painted to make her look like part of the city.

Russian destroyers did sortie to escort the Murmansk convoys at the end of their trips.
ww ii DD 11-3118966-i-050
This is another example of a camouflaged destroyer
ww ii DD 29-3106196-922653457
This colorized picture is probably the one most familiar to English speaking audiences
ww ii DD razyarenni 02-3081256-esminets-proekta-7-razyarennyj-
This destroyer is the RAZYARENNI. I don’t know the identity of the smaller patrol boat on the left.

This is my last example of Soviet destroyer camouflage

WARSHIP WEDNESDAY, April 21, 2021@21:13-RUSSIAN W.W.II WARSHIPS AND THEIR CAMOFLAUGE; ; AS CAMO ON WARSHIPS, MERCHANT VESSELS, WAS USED FOR ALTERATION OF BEARING AND RANGE…BY THEIR ENEMY!!! CAMO AS THIS COULD AND DID SAFE A WARSHIP FROM BEING SUNK AND HIT BY ENEMY SUBMARINES-AIRCRAFT-WARSHIPS-LAND BOMBARDMENT and ALL ETC.

LOOKS LIKE SOME REALLY GOOD CAMO SCHEME, ON THE RUSSKIE/RUSSIAN W.W.II WARSHIPS.
