Saturday was the big day for our older daughter’s youngest son. Of course, we were there. For his mother, one of the best parts was when I was called up to the Torah reading. She said when she saw the three of us, Eilon, myself, and his older brother, Yair, all together on the platform, she was quite overcome with emotion. Yair actually taught his younger sibling how to read the Torah (a specific skill that I never had) by using the cameras, screens, and microphones of their computers. Modern technology joined with age-old religion. Amazing!
Thursday night there was a celebration and party at the home of the family. Loads of friends and relatives came for a catered buffet in their back garden. There was a DJ, and lots of VERY loud music. I even got up and went to dance for a bit. That’s something I haven’t done for quite a while. It isn’t an easy task for someone who’s over 79 years old. I really enjoyed it. One of the other guests even told me I was the best dancer out there. That’s a big compliment for a senior citizen like myself.
