Hello all. I just got home from my follow up visit to the hospital. The cast was removed from my finger, and the good news is that I will not need an operation. Just some physical therapy to regain full use of my finger.
I haven’t been commenting on the state of the world since I fell. There are a few things worth mentioning. , Election fever has infected Israel, the USA, and some other places at a greater distance. Both Israel and America are a mere 2 months from what might be landmark changes. Here are couple of key issues you may, or may not, have heard about.
Israeli right wing vigilantes are terrorizing a number of Arab communities. The hard right police minister seems t0 be avoiding taking action against them. He id also not pushing for rackets. In several different regions. This has apparently aided him in pre-election polls.
Another divisive case locally was the imprisonment (very short term) of several extreme orthodox soldiers for refusing to go on a mission with a female combat medic. The issue of religious exemption from military service is quite serious in Israel.
Antisemitic activity, and especially the media support it receives, also stands out. The are plenty of anti-Israel stories, but no one mentions that the root cause of all the hostility is the continuing refusal of most Arabs to accept the existence of Israel as a Jewish state.
I could expand on any of the above items, but prefer to hope for better days to come and wish everyone A Happy, Peaceful, and Healthy Jewish New Year.
