I feel like a large part of Liberal America has lost contact with reality. ICE is a branch of federal law enforcement. Local police ought to be working with them in close cooperation. It’s a question of security, not politics; of law, not opinions, and of common sense, not ideology.
The proper target for demonstrations is UNRWA, the arm of the UN responsible for dealing with “Palestinian” refugees. In Gaza, almost all UNRWA employees are local residents. As you might suspect, a large number of them are also members of Hamas. UNRWA administers almost all the schools in Gaza. Those schools have been teaching Gaza’s Arab children to hate Jews and to aspire to kill Jews ever since the organization began establishing schools following a curriculum approved by Arab leaders (whether local or extraterritorial). Any plan for rebuilding Gaza must include a framework for rehabilitating the educational system. The allied powers tried to run a de-nazification program after World War 2, and maintained it for several years (Putin’s claims about Ukraine notwithstanding).
