Gaza War 19 Sep

We lost another neighbor this week. Dotan Shimon, 21 year old son of residents of Elazar was killed in Rafah when the building he was in collapsed, probably due to a Hamas booby trap explosion. Three other IDF soldiers were also killed. We live in a small country and everyone has a neighbor or relative who has been killed or injured in this war. I remember Dotan specifically because his sister, Nofar, was killed at the entrance to the village when she was hit by a passing car several years ago. We now have a traffic light there because of that tragedy.

The media have been covering events in Lebanon reasonably well. The UN, on the other hand, decided to call a session to discuss the ‘beeper bombs’. The UN has yet to discuss the daily rocket and drone attacks on Israel from Hezbollah in Lebanon. Those attacks have been going on since October 8th of last year. The beeper bombs were probably selected because the small charge in them was likely to seriously hurt only the person that carried them (Hezbollah operatives and their allies). Look for the UN to try to make this targeting of belligerents a humanitarian violation while they ignore missiles aimed at Israeli private homes.
