A couple of days ago I mentioned the IDF operating on the West Bank. The need for this was really clear yesterday. Arabs from Hevron made two attacks in Gush Etzion yesterday, and another this morning. The first was a car bomb that exploded near the gas station at the Etzion junction (about 2 miles south of where we live, and where we often buy our gas) no one was hurt (except the terrorist driver). The second came when a car tried to ram through the entrance to Carmei Tzur (a village about 4 miles south of the junction). The guards were quick to respond. One drove his own jeep and smashed the intruding vehicle, the second guard shot and killed the driver before he could get to any of the homes in the village. This is routine activity for our security people. Your own police do it all the time and it doesn’t make the news. But in the US the ones being apprehended are criminals, not terrorists.
The last incident did not end well. A terrorist ambushed an Israeli car as it approached an IDF checkpoint near Hevron. He killed three people and then fled. The IDF is still looking for him.
In other news, IDF forces found a tunnel in Rafah (you know, the city Biden told Israel to stay out of). The soldiers found 6 bodies of kidnap victims (one was an American whose parents had spoken at the Democratic Convention). It appears all were shot by their Hamas guards who fled the scene before the IDF patrol arrived. This story made the news everywhere. But the media reporting was not all the same. CNN tried to make it look like Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu was to blame because he would not agree to Hamas surrender demands. FOX was on the other end. They interviewed a former US official who said that not only was Hamas the perpetrator, but that Hamas was not interested in signing an agreement (h and that US appeasement of Iran was part of the root cause of all the recent round of fighting (how true) and that American policy since Obama has concentrated on helping the Iranian theocracy to the detriment of all other countries in the region (no wonder he doesn’t work in th white house any more).
It isn’t just Biden. Kamala Harris avoided the issue in her recent (non) interview. But the Democrats are actively seeking more support from pro-Palestinian groups in the US. Harris said she was in favor of helping defend Israel, but as I’ve said before, purely defensive measures do not win (or prevent) wars.
