Gaza War 10 Jul

The junior partner of Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, moved forces into UNRWA headquarters in Gaza. The IDF had previously cleansed the structure and confiscated weapons and documents while killing terrorists inside. The UN asked for the headquarters to be returned and Israel gave it back. But then the PIJ came back and turned it into a terrorist base again. So the IDF carried out a cleansing operation in the same place again. The results were just like they had been before. What was different was that this time UN involvement was crystal clear. The UNRWA agency supports terror by direct involvement.

The above operation also makes recent new UN claims of “famine” highly suspect. They did not, as far as I know, directly blame Israel. But the hint was there, and other media picked it up. Earlier in the war the UN had made similar claims, and then backtracked and admitted there were no signs of famine in the Palestinian population in Gaza. They never admitted that UN aid was being hijacked by Hamas and being resold at a profit by Hamas. All UN official criticism has been directed against Israel, even when they knew the activities they were trying to condemn were the direct result of Hamas involvement (and that Hamas was responsible). This is not the sort of behavior one would expect from an organization that is supposed to be supporting activities to implement peace in the region. UNRWA is not just obsolete, it’s a positive hindrance to providing aid to needy Palestinians and an obstacle to achieving meaningful negotiations.
