The idea that the US government does not understand the Arab world has been mentioned here before. President Biden’s decision to withhold some US weapons from delivery to Israel is another manifestation of this, but with a lot of extra stupidity thrown in.
Biden may have been trying to bolster his position for the coming election. This was NOT the way to do it. Palestinian civilians are not going to benefit. Israel is already in Rafah, and will probably continue until they destroy the Hamas military wing, and rescue any remaining living hostages. Depriving them of advanced American made bombs just means they will have to use less sophisticated weapons, and that Palestinian civilian casualties may actually rise as a result. But the BIG mistake is siding with Hamas, a known terrorist organization that does not play by the rules. Hama has already started to interpret the move as an act of support for their position. If Hamas survives, it’s a major defeat for Israel. Does Biden not realize this? It is also another manifestation of why other countries, even strong allies, are questioning what US support really means.
In 2011 there was a sort of popular uprising all across the Arab World. It was called the Arab Spring, and was rooted in American president Obama’s speeches when he visited the region. The only place that has had a real change since then is Tunisia. Libya got rid of a dictator, and is still bogged down in a war of succession. Syria was drawn into a major civil war. The old regime emerged victorious, but only after many thousands of Syrians were killed. The Palestinian Authority had a free election. Now they are led by a President that was elected for life. Hamas took over Gaza in a coup and still rules, If Biden has his way, they will return to power. As for American prestige; the failure to support democratic elements by Obama is mirrored in Biden’s actions. Afghanistan was abandoned, No aid was given to Iraq to keep it from falling under Iranian influence. The same can be said of Yemen. Recently, American aircraft had to relocate to a base in Qatar after the UAE said it did not want American aircraft making sorties from the US base there against the Houthis (because it might antagonize Iran?).

You are going on the assumption that the president that stole an election, that was not elected by the people, is capable of making a rational thought. He has had diminished mental capacity way before his party chose him to be a fall guy when it all goes wrong. He constantly falls, says things as he rode on a train across a bridge that never had a train or train tracks. He has all signs of dementia/Alzeimers. Our government is now under communist rule.communist rule.
