There’s been some attention called to an American order to postpone delivery of some JDAM bombs to Israel. (JDAM is an acronym for Joint Direct Attack Munitions – in other words, bunker busters). The excuse given was to ensure the bombs would not be used in Rafah where they might cause civilian casualties. The real reason is to bolster the standing of American President Biden among some potential voters. He is reluctant to allow Israel to actually dismember the Hamas terror forces, but doesn’t dare say that outright because it means he’s supporting terrorism. I am not running for reelection. I can say it. Biden’s America is protecting a terrorist regime.
There’s more to this picture. American universities are host to massive demonstrations supporting Hamas. Many of them are disguised as support for Palestine. That’s not what they are. They are open expressions antisemitism. Many of the demonstrators are not students. Many more haven’t the foggiest notion of what the conflict is about, or where it is. The college administrators have been reluctant to call in law enforcement lest they appear as limiting free speech. But free speech is not a license for vandalism or violence. The demonstrators say they will continue until their voices are heard. They do not seem to understand the difference between hearing their voices and rejecting the demands those voices are making.
We have 3 grandsons in the IDF (and 2 more will join the army in the next few months). But I am actually more concerned about the safety of our younger relatives that are currently enrolled at these institutions (even though one of them told me that he hasn’t seen any real threats and he thinks the stories might be a bit exaggerated). It is clear, however, that President Biden and his party are not going to do anything about the demonstrations (again, probably due to the upcoming election).
