I, for one, am actually fed up with major media outlets parroting the Hamas lies about famine and ‘imminent’ starvation. Just look at the people in the videos and images coming from Gaza, and then compare them with photographs coming from Sudan, or pictures of people who were in captivity in prisoner of war camps in Japan or Germany. The Gazans are not thin, their bones are not sticking out, their stomachs (and eyes) are not protruding. They may very well be hungry, but they are not suffering from severe malnutrition (except in the news releases prepare by Hamas). The UN agencies are also complicit. They have a presence in Sudan and in Syria (where the civil war has been going on for 14 years).
Gazan civilians complain of high prices and shortages. They even say that someone might be hoarding the aid supplies. They won’t sat Hamas is doing it (certainly not in front of a camera). That would invite retribution from a Hamas civil employee. In case you didn’t know, Hamas civil servants (not terrorist fighters) are right there alongside aid distributors from UNRWA and other agencies, even in the northern part of the Gaza strip. They believe Israeli statements that the soldiers the rest of the world wants to call “occupiers” will depart. When that happens, who will still be there? Hamas! It did not take long for the civil bureaucrats to step back into their old jobs. They started with neighborhood organizational jobs (including supervising aid distribution) and expand their scope slowly. They don’t collect garbage, but they do see that it is cleared from the roads. The hospitals were always supervised by Hamas. They still are, as are burials. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has a “day after” plan that is totally dependent upon cooperation from other countries and agencies. So far, there are no volunteers to join his plan. If the IDF just leaves there will be a vacuum just like the one currently involving aid. Who will step in? (and who will report it?).
