One of the saddest items seen this morning was the report that a young USAF Airman went to the Israeli embassy in Washington, DC, and set himself on fire. He died in hospital. When he did it, he reportedly said he would no longer be a part of Genocide. His death is a tragedy. It is compounded by his being influenced by the lies of the “Free Palestine” groups. Suicide has always been a crime that carries the death penalty, but convincing someone to commit it seems to be associated with no punishment at all.
There are a lot of reports of details of the proposed hostage exchange that are getting into the media. The most important detail is the one that hasn’t yet come out. Hamas is still saying that a temporary truce for 40 days isn’t good enough. The cease-fire must be permanent. That’s a red line the Israeli government won’t cross. I’m not optimistic about a last minute change of heart on either side.
Jordan has been airlifting emergency supplies to Palestinians in Gaza. The items are dropped by parachute from a Jordanian Air force plane. This is probably a way to deliver aid that won’t be grabbed by Hamas (or given to Hamas by UNRWA). Yesterday’s para drop was not well executed. The packages all ended up in the Mediterranean. Gazan refugees used boats, surfboards, or simply swam out to retrieve them.
IDF troops located another long tunnel underneath some that had been located previously. Hopefully, by the time you read this, all important items will have been removed and the tunnel destroyed. IDF forces in the northern Gaza strip are still encountering Hamas terrorist teams that manage to infiltrate via parts of the tunnel complex.
