Not surprising that I should write again about the same subject is it? After all, we are still under a voluntary/mandatory quarantine. It’s sort of like house arrect. We went out the other day to a local market to restock on some essential food supplies. Overall, we’ve always kept a week plus of food in our cupboards. Living in Israel, there is a constant threat of some kind of violent confrontation erupting at any given moment. We just wanted to be prepared,
As long as we have electricity, water, and internet and telephone service, it isn’t really that bad. Since my wife and I are both retired, this crisis hasn’t been that much of a change. The Jerusalem Scrabble Club has shut down, for now, to avoid potential contact infection. Many of the members are in the 65= age range that is regarded as being at risk. Our children are in contact all the time, and our older son will be handling our next grocery shopping list. He’ll deliver to our door. Sadly, he won’t have any of our grandchildren with him. Schools are closed, and the local health ministry is playing public service announcements on the TV reminding us that the youngsters are potential carriers and that they should avoid contact with Grandma and Grandpa.
We have a lot of neighbors in voluntary quarantine because of potential exposure. It even includes our local doctor. Our little village hasn’t yet had a real case of infection. But the next towns both north and east have actual cases. The one to the east has 13 at last count. The weather has been unseasonably cold, so we probably wouldn’t have been venturing out much anyway. We take the dogs out, but only inside our fenced yard. Carrying out the trash and garbage is almost like a trip abroad. Even though our regular routine has not been affected much, we do feel the difference. This is especially true since most of the news on all channels, both domestic and foreign, spend most of their time on various aspects of the crisis.
