Yesterday I decided to take a lunch break from my ongoing struggles with reorganizing data on my computer. I took a little piece of leftover chicken an stuck it in the microwave oven to warm up while I selected a couple of salads to have with it. The microwave beeped to notify me that my lunch was warm. I pressed the release to open the door of the oven. There was a brief click, the latch remained closed, and the release button did not return to its normal position.
obviously, something had gone wrong. After a few minutes of efforts to get the door to open, my wife said it was probably time to replace the device. She was certainly correct. We bought that microwave about 12 years ago. It came with a one year guarantee. It served us faithfully, with no problems, from then until yesterday. We now have a new Samsung microwave in the kitchen. The old Crystal microwave was dispatched to the graveyard of old appliances that have ceased reforming properly. If they performed autopsies on those devices they would find this particular oven still had a microwave safe plate inside, along with a piece of chicken.
