I play scrabble every week in the Jerusalem Scrabble Club. It is one of the largest English language clubs in the world. We play 2 seasons a year. At te end of each season the individual in top position of the highest of the three leagues is an automatic contender for the club championship. The challenger is determined bu a double round robin play-off between the next 4 payers in the standings. This season, which just ended, I was one of the participants in that play-off. I won with a score of 4-2 over the 6 six games. Next week I face off with the first place player for a best of five series for the club championship. My chance aren’t good, but then no one expected me to win the play-off either.
I’ve been playing in the Jerusalem club ever since it started. I hold the club record for the most games played in the club. Many years ago. I even won a club championship. It isn’t very important to me to win. I simply enjoy playing the game every week. It’s a good exercise for your brain. The Jerusalem Scrabble Club even has a web site where you can see the latest weekly results and also look up club history and records.
