On May 24th, 1917 the first British merchant ship convoy left Hampton Roads bound for England.The convoy name was HH-1 which stood for the first convoy Homeward bound from Hampton Roads. It consisted of 12 merchant ships escorted by HMS Roxburgh. The cruiser made several more trips across the Atlantic as a convoy escort. During the later voyages she was painted in dazzle camouflage to help protect her from U-boat attacks. The following photographs show her in dazzle paint. The first is an actual contemporary picture. The other two are of my model of the cruiser after I repainted it using the dazzle pattern and colors prepared for her in 1918.
